Ye is underscoring his enthusiasm over an alleged $2.77 billion valuation with a nod to a track off his 2007 album Graduation.
On Thursday night, Jan. 23, Ye returned to Instagram, where he’s been particularly active as of late ahead of the seemingly imminent drop of his forthcoming solo album Bully, with a screenshot of a recent press release issued by his own Yeezy company. In the press release, it’s alleged that Ye’s net worth is currently $2.77 billion, a figure said to have been “confirmed by Eton Venture Services.” The statement goes on to say that this valuation is based on both Ye’s music portfolio and his “sole ownership” of Yeezy.
When sharing the figure to IG, Ye referenced the chorus of “Can’t Tell Me Nothing,” the lead single off his trilogy-closing Best Rap Album Grammy winner.
As pointed out by TMZ, the current Forbes estimate of Ye’s “real time net worth” is listed at $400 million,. That figure was last updated on Jan. 24, at least according to Forbes. The business-focused publication, of course, has previously been the subject of decidedly public derision from Ye, including back in September 2020 when he tweeted out the phone number of an editor for the publication. That same month, he jokingly referred to Forbes as “my most favorite white supremacists” during an interview with Nick Cannon.
In 2021, Forbes disputed a $6.6 billion net worth estimate of Ye from Bloomberg, notably highlighting what the outlet characterized as Trump-esque tactics.
According to Eton Venture Services, described on its official website as “the gold standard in business valuation services since 2010,” the value of music catalogs and royalties are determined through the analysis of “income streams” including streaming, licensing, and synchronization. Also factored in are market trends and “comparable sales.” Ex-Uber exec James Cox and Substack founder Chris Best are among those featured on the testimonials section of the company’s site.
Next for Ye is Bully, his first new solo album since 2021’s performance art-centered Donda rollout. On the fashion front, he recently continued his everything-is-$20 YZY strategy with the release of the YZY SL-01. A women-focused YZY division is also said to be on the horizon, with Ye recently asserting that he has “a John Wick vendetta” against competitors.
