For readers of a certain age, there’s a phone number that remains deeply ingrained in the subconscious, standing tall as, perhaps, the only number ever fully committed to memory: 281-330-8004.

Immortalized in the music (and merch) of Houston rap legend Mike Jones, the number has continued to provide fans and hopeful collaborators alike a chance to potentially connect with the man himself for more than two decades.

While the number was at one point not affiliated with Jones, it has more recently returned to its rightful owner, as confirmed in multiples updates over the past few years from the “Still Tippin’” artist.

“The [number] was ringing back to back before it came out the BOX!!” Jones told fans in an Instagram update shared on Tuesday (Jan. 6). “This [number] is connected with me for life lmao, thanks to all y'all who believed, who still call to this day!! Some call just to say what’s up and some call JUST to say thank u! Some call for shows & features, but I may go live and just answer calls from fans live!! So y'all can see [and] feel the organic love that comes thru this phone!!!”

Back in January 2025, Jones, who has multiple Gold and Platinum certifications from the RIAA to his name, elaborated on the intentions behind sharing his number far and wide despite the presumed hassle that no doubt comes with it. Per Jones, one reason for the push, particularly earlier in his career, was to prevent fans from falling for “fake shows” from fraudulent promoters.

“I wanted to be accessible [and] hands on with my fans [and] supporters,” he said at the time.

This March, Jones is on the bill for the Paul Wall Birthday Bash event in Houston. The show will see him on the lineup alongside fellow Texan icons Wall and Slim Thug, who both appeared on the aforementioned classic “Still Tippin’” back in 2004.
