Meek Mill will ring in America’s 250th anniversary in his hometown of Philadelphia next month, as he’s been added to the lineup for the One Philly: Unity Concert event.
Meek, whose should-have-been-expected presence at the free event comes alongside word that Jordan Davis has also been added to the lineup, will join previously announced performers including Will Smith and Christina Aguilera on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway on July 4.
Gates open at 3:00 p.m. local time for the Wanda Sykes-hosted event, which counts Questlove among its executive producers. Other previously confirmed performers include The Roots, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Jill Scott, State Property, Seal, Kathy Sledge, and Infinity Song. Attendees can also expect appearances from Gillie Da Kid and Wallo267.
As Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle L. Parker previously touted in a statement to Complex, One Philly is intended to serve as a “historic homecoming” for its roster of stars.
“By uniting the vision of our mayor’s office and so many other city leaders, the global broadcast and production of Scott Mirkin, and the unmatched musical legacy of The Roots and Live Nation Urban, the One Philly Unity: Concert For America will celebrate the soul of Philadelphia and the spirit of our nation on a truly global scale,” Parker said last month. “There is no place to be other than Philly on July 4th!”
The show kicks off at 5:00 p.m. local time on July 4, with fireworks set to bring the proceedings to a close at 11:45.
