With the universe still reeling from Big Boi's recent command that devoted ATLiens should "stay tuned" for news on a possible OutKast biopic, the hype surrounding his upcoming collaborative EP with electro-rock duo Phantogram has reached new heights. Known collectively as Big Grams, the trio teased the EP this summer during a performance at the first annual Epic Fest in Los Angeles.
After sharing their debut single "Fell in the Sun" last week, Big Grams is back for the digital slam dunk with the decidedly mood-driven "Lights On." The track is noticeably reminiscent of "Objectum Sexuality," one of Big Boi's previous collaborations with Phantogram that appeared on his 2012 solo album Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors.
The EP will feature surely golden appearances from Skrillex and Run the Jewels, adding some interesting muscle to the seven-track collection. In a recent interview with Pitchfork, Big Boi described exactly how he initially stumbled upon Phantogram, perhaps inspiring artists everywhere to rethink just how quickly they ignore pop-up ads:
Big Grams drops on September 25 via Epic.
