Lil Novi, teen son to Lil Wayne, has named his choice for what he considers his father’s top album.

In a recent interview for the TRSH channel on YouTube, Novi, whose mother is Nivea, was asked whether he agrees that his father is one of the greatest rappers of all time.

“For surely I agree,” Novi, who is currently managed by Jave Q, said. “But I just be like, yeah that shit cool. I be like, yeah that shit hard.”

From there, the B4 the AlbVm rapper noted that he’s not “necessarily tired of hearing” such talk, especially when it’s simply people “giving props” for his dad’s decades of artistry. Others, however, have a view of his lifestyle in connection with his father that he finds humorous.

“Some kids, they be like, ‘Oh that’s crazy. How does it feel to wake up every day?’” He said. “I be like, bro, it’s regular. I’m a human. I’m just like y’all.”

Novi was then asked to reveal what he believes are Weezy’s top 3 best albums, resulting in an aside about generational differences.

“I ain’t gon’ lie,” Novi said. “I’m finna to be so cooked for this question because it’s just not my generation.” Still, Novi did have a pick, noting his personal preference for Weezy’s more recent material, including the latest entry in his Tha Carter series, which is soon set to see the release of the long-teased Tha Carter VI.

“I listen to his music,” Novi added. “I listen to, like, kind of like his newer music. I don’t really listen to his old stuff. But I’ll say his top one album, I’ll say the newest Carter. I think it’s Carter V. But yeah, that shit was hard. That shit was great.”

In the final moments of the interview, available in full above, Novi reflected on his earliest memory of watching his father perform, leading to a mention of his own first time hitting the stage.

“I was just stuck. I was just frozen,” he said of the childhood highlight.

For now, Tha Carter VI doesn’t yet have an official release date. During the recording process, however, Weezy has given fans a number of promising updates on his progress for the new album, which comes after the 2018 rollout of Tha Carter V. That album opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and counted features from XXXTentacion, Swizz Beatz, Travis Scott, Kendrick Lamar, Nicki Minaj, and more. Fast forward to 2024 and Kendrick, interestingly enough, is currently fresh off mentioning Weezy in “wacced out murals,” a track off his surprise-dropped GNX album.
