Lil Jon’s 27-year-old son, DJ Young Slade, is missing in Georgia.
In a news release shared Tuesday (Feb. 3), the Milton Police Department said that Slade, born Nathan Smith, had last been seen in the vicinity of Baldwin Drive and Mayfield Road in Milton.
“[Smith] ran out of his house and has been missing since,” police said. “[Smith] left on foot and does not possess a phone. He may be disoriented and in need of assistance. Family and friends are concerned for his safety.”
As regional outlet Rough Draft Atlanta points out, authorities said earlier on Tuesday that “an active police matter” was in progress in the nearby Mayfield Park area. However, it wasn’t immediately confirmed whether this was in connection the missing person case.
“There is no threat to the public,” police said when alerting the public to what Rough Draft Atlanta described as a search effort in the area.
When reached for comment by Complex on Wednesday (Feb. 4), a rep for the Milton Police Department said that Smith had still not been located.
In a Big Facts Network interview in 2025, Smith, a.k.a. Young Slade, spoke about his own path to becoming an artist, crediting his father with teaching him to “keep going” and “work hard” at his craft while “always striving” for greatness.
“It’s trippy because I just see him as Dad, but everybody sees him as Lil Jon,” he said at the time.
In 2024, Jon said “it’s cool” to see his son working in the same field as him, adding that it was “amazing” to work alongside each other for his Total Meditation and Manifest Abundance projects.
“I’ve given him a lot of advice," the “Get Low” hitmaker told OK! In 2024. “As he's gotten older, he talks to me a lot more and asks for more advice because he literally got an encyclopedia of music right here.”
The Milton Police Department is now asking for the public’s help in locating Smith, with both a phone number and email address provided in Tuesday’s news release for those who may have information into his whereabouts.
A representative for Lil Jon told TMZ that the family “is asking for privacy at this time.” The rep added, “We are also asking for continued prayers for Nathan to come home safe. Thank you."
