LiAngelo Ball, whose surprise hit “Tweaker” was given the official video treatment on Thursday, has asserted that he raps “colder” than Cam’ron.
Cam and GELO have traded some public barbs in recent months, with the It Is What It Is co-host at one point pushing back against the G League player’s argument that they were “in the same boat.”
While GELO argued that he never heard anyone mentioning Cam in any top 5 conversations, Cam dismissed the comparison due to having “sold 12 million records,” a feat he equated in basketball terms to amassing “12 chips.”
Speaking with Speedy Morman on the latest episode of Complex’s 360, GELO, fresh off news of inking a record deal, was asked to detail how he chooses to “deal with” these kinds of remarks.
“I don’t deal with it,” he said around 15 minutes into the episode, seen above. “That don’t bother me, bro. I’ll just address it. I ain’t finna get punked for nothing. Like, dawg, what is you saying? They don’t know me at all. I don’t know Cam’ron, bro. I think I rap colder than him. Basketball, colder than them n***as. I’m not over here like, ‘Dang, he said I can’t do this.’ I knew this shit was coming. I just be keeping it cool.”
While GELO said he didn’t have plans to hop on social media and flat-out say “I’m better than Cam’ron,” adding that Cam is a “legend” to fans and that he’s “not disrespecting” him, he does indeed believe that he is better.
“I’m feeling like I’m up there in my music,” he said.
As for the reported Def Jam deal, GELO declined to get too into the specifics during his conversation with Speedy. He did, however, credit his team with helping him put together an agreement under which, in his words, “I own my music.”
