Jay-Z’s classic 1996 studio debut, Reasonable Doubt, is getting an exclusive 30th anniversary edition from Target.
Announced today (June 1), Target will be offering an exclusive anniversary edition of the 1996 album, which is set to be available starting June 26. The vinyl boasts a number of details that should be enticing to fans, including exclusive packaging and color variant, plus never-before-released-in-this-format versions of select tracks.
Further marking the moment, Target is rolling out special anniversary-inspired fan experiences. For pre-order info, see here.
For some fans, Reasonable Doubt still stands as HOV’s best work. As of this writing, the album has been certified Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America, and it continues to rank highly among discussions of the best hip-hop albums of all time.
HOV would go on to follow up his acclaimed studio debut with In My Lifetime, Vol. 1 in 1997, with Vol. 2... Hard Knock Life arriving just under a year later. 4:44, his most recent solo studio album, was released in 2017, though the widely held assumption in recent weeks has been that something new may be imminent.
News of the Reasonable Doubt anniversary edition comes after this weekend’s Roots Picnic, where Jay performed a new freestyle that was not short on swiftly headlined bars speculated to be aimed at Drake, the artist formerly known as Kanye West, and more.
Next for HOV is a three-night stint at Yankee Stadium in July. Here’s everything you need to know about the shows, one of which is billed as a Reasonable Doubt anniversary celebration.
