Destroy Lonely Says He's 'Focused' on Finishing Collab Project With Ken Carson, Teases 2026 Release

"2026, for sure," Lone tells Complex.

Destroy Lonely is letting fans know that he and fellow Opium artist Ken Carson are hard at work on their highly anticipated joint project, which doesn’t yet have an official title.

In a recent interview with Jordan Rose for Complex, Lone, whose latest solo tape ᐸ/3³ was released back in September, confirmed that he and Ken are currently in progress on their collaborative project.

“We working on that right now though, and I know people feel like, people say that,” he told Complex. “But we’re genuinely working on that right now. … Right now, I am focused on making the project with Ken. For this whole week while we’ve been in New York, we’ve probably done made like 10, 20 songs. Me and Ken be cooking up all the time.”

In fact, per Lone, his and Ken’s complementary approaches to remaining prolific in the studio have contributed to the joint project’s long gestation process.

“That’s the hardest part about why it hasn’t come out yet, because me and Ken got as many songs together as we probably got by ourselves over so many years,” he said. “We’re trying to figure out how we want to present that.”

Lone also credited Ken with pushing him “more to do our music” than his own, sharing some insight on how a typical day in the studio together goes.

“He’s more adamant about getting that shit done than I can say I am, but not in a negative way or nothing,” he explained. “But nah, it’s not harder on his behalf. If anything, it be my fault half the time, for sure.”

A late 2025 release, however, is off the table.

“Hell nah,” Lone said when asked if this year was a possibility for his and Ken's project. “2026, for sure. 2025 over with, twin. It’s November.”

Elsewhere, Lone teased that he and Ken have “thousands” of songs in the vault, noting that this estimate is “no exaggeration,” and politely declined to answer a question about the status of a group project from the larger Opium collective.

Amid the wait, fans can add Destroy Lonely and Ken Carson pieces to their collection thanks to Complex. Both artists have quite a few offerings on the shop, including physical copies of If Looks Could Kill and More Chaos.
