Ahead of the hearing, Boosie's lawyer argued that her client had already received "significant punishment" in the case.

Boosie Badazz has been sentenced in his federal gun case.

On Friday (Jan. 9), the Goat Talk artist was sentenced to time served with three years of supervised release, according to court reporter Meghann Cuniff.

Cuniff also reported that Boosie won't go to prison, regardless of the presidential pardon he's been seeking since 2024.

Ahead of Friday’s sentencing hearing in San Diego, Boosie made a formal push for probation and community service in lieu of “unnecessary incarceration,” with his lawyer, Meghan Blanco, arguing that her client had already received “significant punishment” in the case.

The case, as argued by Blanco, is one with “no identifiable victims.” A key difference in how Blanco and the government viewed the case, which saw Boosie charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition, lies in how each side interpreted the alleged circumstances of the arrest itself.

While the government claimed that Boosie had “yelled and continually threatened the safety of his security detail,” his lawyer argued that Boosie may have been experiencing “confusion” and “agitation” due to low blood sugar. Boosie, notably, is diabetic.

“[Boosie] is a man who rose from extraordinary adversity, contributed meaningfully to his community, and has taken responsibility for a serious but isolated lapse in judgment,” Blanco wrote in court docs viewed by Complex earlier this week. “These history and characteristics strongly support a sentence that is individualized, proportional, and oriented toward continued rehabilitation rather than unnecessary incarceration.”

Sentencing was previously slated for November of last year but was ultimately pushed back to this month.
