It's "thank u, next" season and all other new music campaigns should probably just hit pause for a week or so.

Ariana Grande's surprise-released new single, taken from her upcoming album of the same name, is (as you hopefully know by now) getting one hell of a music video interpretation stacked with cameos that all play into a slightly nostalgic, hopefully "All the Small Things"-esque send-up of the entire format itself.

Late Monday, Grande shared a new teaser trailer for the video. "One time on Twitter, I heard Ariana was pregnant, so I got pregnant so we could be pregnant at the same time," one schoolgoer tells the camera in the clip. "Turns out it was just a rumor." Later, we see Mean Girls alum Jonathan Bennett and Stefanie Drummond delivering their own Grande bits about good hair and finding someone to get engaged to only to later break it off:

Grande and company previously teased the new video (which we now know will be out Friday) with a marathon of Mean Girls-nodding pictures, including this one of the video's version of the notorious Burn Book:

The new track signals the start of a new chapter for Grande, whose excellent fourth studio album Sweetener was only just released back in August. However, Grande has cautioned against the acknowledgement of eras at all. "I [just] wanna make music and drop it whenever and perform it," she said in response to a fan back in March, adding that she's no longer interested in conforming to the "routine or formula."
