"A lot of rappers are not gonna admit to this," 6ix9ine argued.

6ix9ine claims he only owns 10 percent of his music, arguing that “a lot” of rap artists are in “shitty deals.”

The 29-year-old artist made the claim during an appearance on stream with Adin Ross, Neon, and BenDaDonnn on Tuesday (Nov. 18). Asked to specify how much money he’s made from his catalog over the years, which includes albums like 2018’s Dummy Boy and 2020’s TattleTales, 6ix9ine declined to give an exact amount. Instead, he claimed that “90 percent” was owned by the label, though it wasn’t immediately clear whether he was being genuine with this figure.

“This is me right now. I’m not gonna lie,” he said before lying down on a table in a position that crassly suggested he was being fucked.

Despite this, 6ix9ine went on to speak complimentarily about Elliot Grainge, 10K Projects founder and son to longtime Universal Music Group CEO Lucian Grainge.

“Long story short, I’m signed to Elliot Grainge, who is the son of Lucian Grainge,” 6ix9ine said.

Asked to clarify what his 10 percent ownership claim actually means, 6ix9ine brought up the all-encompassing nature of what are commonly referred to in the industry as 360 deals. Several artists have expressed hesitance about such deals in the past, including Lupe Fiasco.

“A lot of rappers are not gonna admit to this but they’re all in shitty deals,” 6ix9ine said Tuesday. “Where rappers make money from is touring and merch. But also, like, when they’re in 360 deals—and shoutout to Elliot because Elliot will see this; all I do is talk facts so you can fact-check me whenever with screenshots and everything—they take a part of your merch, a part of your touring, a part of everything. Everything. But Elliot has never done that to me.”

In recent days, 6ix9ine has been in headlines in connection with a home invasion incident at his Florida residence. A Palm Beach Sheriff's Office rep told Complex earlier this week that deputies had been dispatched to the house “for a home invasion robbery/burglary in progress” over the weekend, though no suspects were immediately apprehended.
