YSL Woody is mourning the unimaginable.
The Atlanta rapper laid his newborn son to rest this week, sharing emotional footage and photos from the funeral, including the cortege, flower arrangements, and the family and friends who gathered to support him during the devastating moment. In the Instagram caption accompanying the post, Woody thanked everyone who helped him through the service and stood beside him as he honored his baby boy.
“Today was very special & it felt special,” he wrote. “I wanna thank everybody that’s been involved… WILLIE A WATKINS FUNERAL HOME (Kamira) especially you ❤️ my church & pastor Rev. JAMES JACKSON thank you… my family and friends and my car crew I love you all…My security team for keeping everyone feeling safe… and imma end it with GOD thank you lord for my baby, your love and mercy and your forgiveness.”
Woody added that he plans to speak more soon, closing his message with: “It’s so much I wanna say but imma make a video later… this for those who couldn’t be here.”
Woody has been publicly grieving since revealing that his newborn son just over a month old passed away last month. In recent days, Woody has posted emotional messages describing the depth of his pain, calling the loss so heavy that it’s been difficult to keep going.
“Life ain’t worth living anymore,” he wrote in one post. In others, he added, “You made me feel something now I’m numb and hurt,” and “I know this isn’t the work of the Lord, Satan will never win.”
Another troubling caption read: “Someone gonna pay.” The messages sparked widespread concern from supporters and fellow artists, many urging him to lean on loved ones and take time to process his grief.
The cause of the infant’s death has not been made public, and Woody has not shared details about when the tragedy occurred.
