Detroit rapper Baby Smoove was arrested in Miami earlier this week following a traffic stop that led to multiple drug- and weapon-related charges, according to police records.

The artist, whose real name is Jaelin Deanta Parker, was pulled over late Wednesday night (Dec. 10) by Miami Police while driving a yellow Lamborghini with heavily tinted windows, which alerted authorities according to police reports reviewed by Complex. When an officer approached the vehicle, they noticed smoke inside the car along with a strong smell of marijuana.

Police also reported spotting a black handgun beneath the driver’s seat, prompting officers to ask everyone inside the vehicle to step out for safety reasons. Baby Smoove and two passengers were then taken into custody after officers determined that none of them were legally permitted to possess a firearm and that the weapon was easily accessible to all occupants.

A subsequent search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered a Taurus PT809 handgun loaded with 16 live 9mm rounds in the magazine and one round in the chamber. Officers also say they found a hidden compartment containing a pill bottle with suspected oxycodone, Xanax, and tizanidine hydrochloride, a prescription muscle relaxant.

Additional items recovered during the search reportedly included a yellow backpack holding approximately $30,000 in cash, nearly 82 grams of suspected marijuana, 12 containers believed to contain THC wax, and a bottle of promethazine, a prescription antihistamine. Police claim Baby Smoove told them he did not know who owned the gun, but acknowledged that the yellow backpack belonged to him.

The “Losing My Mind” rapper was charged with a total of seven felony counts, including multiple charges related to possession of controlled substances with intent to sell while armed, possession of marijuana with intent to sell while armed, intent to manufacture or sell prescription drugs, and carrying a concealed firearm.

Baby Smoove was released from custody on Friday after posting a $1,000 surety bond. As of now, he has not publicly commented on the arrest.
