Offset is opening up about Takeoff's legacy and where things stand between him and Quavo today.
Speaking about his old group Migos during a heartfelt conversation with Keke Palmer, the Atlanta rapper shared that Takeoff was the glue that kept the group together. He added that while Migos may not be together anymore, the bond they built will always remain a part of him.
"It can never be the same without my boy cause he was the glue the whole time. He the glue. He the glue to everything [...] In a group you got egos. We grown men. We got millions of dollars and egos. But homie would humble that at all times [...] He just kept us as one."
The now-solo superstar said that despite the fact that the group is no longer putting out music, he still identifies as a part of it.
"I never forget my roots, right? I'm still representing that, 'cause that's still my family at the end of the day," Offset said. "I'm still Migos at the end of the day. When I go back to my neighborhood, it's a crew of us, and we Migos. So it don't never go away from me. I just got to hold the torch. I got to hold it down."
Offset, who has been navigating his solo career following Takeoff's tragic death in 2022, described how the loss reshaped his perspective on brotherhood, family, and his bond with Quavo.
"When that happened, it's a time for brotherhood. Everything go out the window," he said, reflecting on Takeoff's murder. "And then with time and space, it's a guilt on both ends... I love Quay, but I think it's just better for us to be on our own different things now."
While acknowledging the emotional distance between him and Quavo, Offset hinted that a reunion isn't off the table — but it won't happen right away.
"Maybe a couple years from now," said Offset. "The plan was always for us to be doing our thing as solo acts. I feel like that's what separated us as a group anyway. That's why we were so big and why we lasted so long, is because each man could hold their own."
He added, "And then maybe with success on both sides, that could bring things back. But I don't know. It's hard."
In August, Offset hinted at one possible road to a reunion: joining with Quavo to make a tribute album to Takeoff.
"It's possible. It's not impossible," he said. "There's no conversations about that though, but we're just building each other first. We're checking on each other."
