The cause of death for Lil Jon's son, Nathan Smith, has been officially determined following a medical examiner's investigation.

According to an autopsy report from the Fulton County Medical Examiner, Smith died from drowning, with psilocybin use listed as a contributing factor, and his death was ruled an accident. Toxicology findings showed the presence of psilocybin, a psychoactive substance commonly associated with hallucinogenic mushrooms.

Smith was discovered in a retention pond near his home in Milton, Georgia, on Feb. 6 after being reported missing days earlier. Authorities launched a search after family members grew concerned when he left the house on foot without his phone and could not be located. Divers later recovered his body from a nearby park pond.

Officials previously stated there were no signs of foul play, though the investigation remained active until the autopsy was completed. Nathan, also known as DJ Young Slade, was a musician, producer, and engineer. He was a graduate of New York University and had been building his own career in music. Following the discovery, Lil Jon shared an emotional statement mourning his son.

"I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith. His mother and I are devastated," he said at the time. "Nathan was the kindest human being you would ever meet… He was an amazingly talented young man."

Earlier this month, the rapper confirmed that his son had been laid to rest, adding in a tribute that life would never be the same without him. Smith's death marks a devastating loss for his family, friends, and those who knew him through his work in music.
