LeBron James is making it clear that J. Cole's The Fall-Off remains one of his favorite listens of the year.
During a recent interview with Time, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar was asked what music he's currently playing, and he didn't hesitate to name Cole's latest project.
"What am I listening to right now? J. Cole. His whole album, The Fall-Off," James said.
The endorsement is hardly surprising given the public admiration James has shown for the album since its release.
Earlier this year, fans noticed James carrying a vinyl copy of The Fall-Off while arriving at Kaseya Center ahead of the Lakers' March matchup against the Miami Heat. At the time, many assumed the record was simply part of his pregame tunnel fit, but Cole later revealed there was a much more personal reason behind it.
Speaking on Carmelo Anthony's 7PM in Brooklyn podcast, the rapper explained that James brought the vinyl specifically to have it signed.
"On his way, he had The Fall-Off vinyl, he brought it so I could sign it," Cole said.
The meeting came after Cole reached out to James because he planned to attend the Lakers-Heat game with his children. According to the rapper, his oldest son is a huge fan of the four-time NBA champion.
"My oldest is getting into basketball, Bron is his No. 1, and I hit Bron and he graciously said he would do it," Cole said.
Cole said watching James interact with his children ended up becoming one of the most memorable moments of the evening.
James' support of Cole also comes amid his highly publicized fallout with Drake. On Iceman, Drake appeared to take multiple shots at the Lakers star on the track "Make Them Remember."
"I shouldn't even be shocked to see you in that arena. Because you always made your career for switching teams up,” Drake raps on the song. “Please stop asking what's going on with 23 and me, I'm a real n***a and he's not,"
