Isaiah Rashad is officially back in album mode.
The TDE rapper announced that his next studio project, It’s Been Awful, is set to arrive on May 1, 2026, marking his first full-length release in nearly five years. He revealed the date alongside a teaser shared on social media, giving fans their first concrete update on the long-awaited follow-up.
The upcoming album will be Rashad’s first since The House Is Burning dropped in 2021, a project that featured a wide range of collaborators including Duke Deuce, Lil Uzi Vert, Doechii, SZA and more.
While details around It’s Been Awful remain limited, no tracklist or features have been confirmed, the anticipation is already building.
Rashad has previously offered insight into the album’s direction. In an interview with Vice in February, he pointed to a mix of influences shaping the project, pulling inspiration from artists like Prince as well as the experimental edge of OutKast’s Stankonia and The Love Below. He also highlighted newer voices, such as Pluto and Bunna B, suggesting the album reflects a broader and more eclectic creative space.
“The biggest inspiration for me was Fousheé… Prince, I’ve been having 'If I Was Your Girlfriend' on repeat for 2-3 months. The, for this tail end part of my project, this girl PLUTO from Atlanta. She’s been inspiring me and this other girl BunnaB,” he said. “I’m touching more [Outkast’s] Stankonia and The Love Below more than anything else. I would say Top made compromises for the creativity on this one, so I appreciate it.”
He’s also been vocal about how he wants to bring the music to life, expressing interest in incorporating a live band into future performances, something he’s experimented with during past tours.
With a firm date now set, the rollout is officially underway, and after years of waiting, fans won’t have to wait much longer to hear what Isaiah Rashad has been building.
