Dame Dash's ongoing beef with Jay-Z shows no signs of slowing down, with Dame leveling fresh criticism at his former business partner.
Following Hov's headline-making freestyle at the Roots Picnic, Dame weighed in on the bars during a conversation with The Art of Dialogue, revisiting one of the most controversial chapters in Roc-A-Fella history.
While discussing the freestyle's lyrics, Dame brought up the infamous stabbing incident involving Jay and Lance "Un" Rivera, which stemmed from allegations that Rivera was connected to the leak of Jay-Z's 1999 album Vol. 3... Life and Times of S. Carter.
According to Dame, the situation was tied to more than just music industry tensions. "He stabbed [Un] over Charli Baltimore," Dame claimed. "And what's fucked up about it is that was Big's girl."
Charli Baltimore was romantically linked to The Notorious B.I.G. before the rapper's death in 1997. Dame argued that the circumstances surrounding Baltimore's later relationships made the entire situation difficult for him to understand.
"If Biggie dies and his best friend-manger starts smashing his girl and then his best friend starts smashing this girl, do you think that's evil or no?" Dame asked the show's host.
Throughout the conversation, Dame repeatedly suggested that fighting over Baltimore after Biggie's death made little sense, calling the entire situation "corny" and questioning why such a serious altercation happened in the first place.
"It was so corny," he said. "I was so mad to be in a problem over that after we just did 'Hard Knock Life.'"
Dame also revived an old nickname that he claimed he and Biggie would use for Jay-Z. "Me and Big, that's what we used to call him: Stugats," Dame said. "That was our nickname for him."
The Roc-A-Fella co-founder spent much of the interview mocking Jay-Z, joking about his appearance, referencing recent lyrics, and accusing him of borrowing phrases and ideas.
Despite the criticism, Dame also reflected on his friendship with Biggie, describing their relationship as a genuine brotherhood during hip-hop's golden era. "We definitely had a brotherhood," Dame said. "Like, I really loved those guys."
He went on to praise Biggie's personality and humor, saying he still wishes they had more time together before the Brooklyn icon's death.
The comments arrive just days after Jay-Z's Roots Picnic performance generated widespread discussion online. During his viral freestyle, the rap legend appeared to take aim at several figures from throughout his career, including Drake, Dame, Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, and Tory Lanez.
