Dame Dash is addressing long-circulating rumors about his past interactions with Beyoncé, making it clear he never viewed her in a romantic light.
During a recent interview on The Art of Dialogue, the Roc-A-Fella co-founder pushed back on speculation that he had once tried to pursue the superstar, explaining that his perspective was shaped by the moment he first met her.
“I wasn’t even thinking about Beyoncé… she was a kid to me,” Dash said, emphasizing that he knew her at a young age and couldn’t separate that initial impression. He added that because of that early connection, he never saw her in the way others may have assumed.
Dash went on to explain that his focus at the time was elsewhere, noting that he was moving in different circles and around older, established figures in fashion and entertainment.
“I was running behind… Naomi Campbell… it was different,” he said, describing the type of women he was interested in at the time.
According to Dash, his familiarity with Beyoncé from her teenage years made it difficult for him to shift how he viewed her later on, even as she became a global star.
“I couldn’t unsee her as 16,” he said. “That wasn’t on my list… those girls were kids to me.”
While shutting down the rumors about Beyoncé, Dash did acknowledge that he saw things differently when it came to another member of Destiny’s Child.
“Kelly Rowland… I’ve actually seen her and been like, I would mess with her,” he said.
The remarks arrive amid ongoing public conversations about his former Roc-A-Fella partner Jay-Z, as Dash continues to offer his perspective on their shared legacy and the early days of the label.
As with many of his recent appearances, Dash’s latest comments have quickly sparked reactions online, with fans debating his perspective and revisiting past narratives tied to some of music’s biggest names.
