Watch Bobby Shmurda Rap Over Waka Flocka's "Hard in da Paint" in New Funk Flex Freestyle

Bobby Shmurda stopped by Hot 97 for a new Funk Flex freestyle, which featured the rapper delivering bars over Waka Flocka's "Hard in da Paint."

Bobby Shmurda is the latest rapper to link up with Funk Flex, who stopped by Hot 97 to deliver a freestyle for the DJ’s long-running series.

The beat ended up being Waka Flocka Flame’s“Hard in da Paint,” and while at times Bobby stumbled a little bit over his words, he brought his infectious energy to the track that left Funk Flex laughing and smiling throughout.

The Brooklyn rapper recently gave his latest single “They Don’t Know” the visual treatment, premiering the track’s Ishell Vaughan-directed video with Complex at the end of April. “They Don’t Know” served as his first release since leaving Epic Records in March, which was a big deal for the rapper considering he’d made it publicly known back in February he wanted out.

“Attention!!!! To all Shmurda fans aka the Shmurdas. I just sign my release papers also jus made ah milly today,” he wrote in a post on Instagram.

Bobby Shmurda said the energy exhibited in his new music is intentional considering he was locked up for so long.

“My spirit’s always gon’ be up, I used to sleep next to people who had 40 to life,” Bobby told Complex. “People who’ve been in there for 30 years and haven’t laughed—I’d have them crying all day. When you got good energy, no matter where you at, you can bring a smile to someone’s face.”
