Rihanna has dominated headlines and rocked the fashion world in the past two weeks with the back-to-back launch of her well-received makeup line, Fenty Beauty, and yet another line of her Fenty x Puma collection, which had a thrilling NYFW show. As if that wasn't enough, she also enjoyed the hell out of her annual Diamond Ball last week with all of her famous friends, and continues to consistently prove she is an all-around rockstar.
But for some fans, the connection between her stage name/middle name, Rihanna, and the names of her makeup and fashion lines, which incorporate her real last name, Fenty, was not readily apparent. As any curious fan already knows, Rihanna’s full name is Robyn Rihanna Fenty, but this news came as a shock to many people on Twitter who found themselves caught up in the RiRi madness of the last few weeks.
Unfortunately, the truth was shocking to more than just a few unsuspecting people who proved they weren't very plugged in to the world's essential knowledge. Some publications found the “revelation” a big enough deal to write about.
But that’s the thing about Twitter: revealing your ignorance only opens you up for a good, old-fashioned roast sesh.
