Rick Ross will be making some wheelchair-accessible moves for his fourth annual car and bike show.
Last year, Ricky Rozay was sued by Darris Straughter, a wheelchair user who traveled from Miami to attend the event in Fayetteville, Georgia, but was not picked up from his hotel by a shuttle as expected. Straughter, who was afflicted with a spinal cord injury in 2018, contacted organizers two weeks ahead of the event to notify them about his circumstances. Despite this, Straughter waited for the shuttle, which never arrived, for several hours. Other guests also complained of event disorganization.
Straughter demanded a refund and sued Ross for violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act, wrongful enrichment, and breach of contract. The man also requested that Ross' future car shows be accommodating to those in wheelchairs.
Ross seems to have gotten the message, as reported by TMZ on Thursday (April 3). The rapper agreed to provide wheelchair-accessible shuttles for his 4th annual car and bike show, which will drop guests off at handicap parking spots on site. The event will be held on June 7, with special guests including Plies and Nino Breeze.
"Thanks to Darris Straughter and the other wheelchair users who came forward, the upcoming Rick Ross Car & Bike Show will be so wheelchair accessible that even golf carts will be provided to wheelchair users," Straughter's lawyer, John Hoover, told TMZ.
