Rick Ross is being sued by a man who claims he was denied wheelchair accommodations to attend the 3rd Annual Rick Ross Car & Bike Show.
According to TMZ, the plaintiff, Darris Straughter, alleges that despite purchasing a ticket and arranging for travel and lodging, he was unable to attend the event at Ross’ 235-acre estate dubbed "The Promised Land” in Fayetteville, Georgia. Straughter, who has been disabled since suffering a traumatic spinal cord injury in 2018, contacted the event organizers two weeks in advance to inform them of his needs.
Straughter was reportedly assured multiple times that a wheelchair-accessible shuttle would transport him from a parking lot to the event. However, after waiting several hours, the shuttle never arrived, forcing him to return to his hotel. He had traveled to the event from Miami.
Straughter and his lawyer, John Hoover Esq., claim that organizers had promised refunds to those who couldn't attend due to issues like this, but they have yet to receive a response. On the event's Instagram page, other attendees also voiced complaints about the disorganization and lack of access, with some requesting refunds.
As a result, Straughter is suing Ross for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, and violations of the Americans With Disabilities Act. He is seeking damages and is requesting that future events ensure accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
