Method Man didn't know that his verse on the original version of "Got My Mind Made Up" would land on 2Pac's final album.

The Wu-Tang Clan member discussed the surprise on the Tuesday (Jan. 13) episode of The Pivot Podcast around the 31-minute mark, explaining that the song was initially intended to be a collaboration with The Dogg Pound. Method first said how the 1996 song came to be was "weird" before recanting his statement and detailing exactly what happened.

"We didn't know it was going to be a 2Pac record," Method Man said, adding that he had a great relationship with Snoop Dogg and the Dogg Pound.

Method added that he was with Redman and Inspectah Deck when their verses were recorded at the home of Dogg Pound member Daz Dillinger, along with Lady of Rage, whose verse would later be replaced by 2Pac's.

"The whole thing with 2Pac coming home and all that and he's making his album and all that. We forgot about the record," Method added, referring to the late rapper being released from jail in 1995. "I personally forgot all about the record and then he dropped and they were playing it on New York radio."

The rapper and actor added that he wasn't bothered about not being notified that 2Pac would be on the track, sharing that he "liked" the All Eyez on Me artist.

"But then there's the the relationship I had with Big. Me and Big was cool. And Big was such a cool motherfucker, [he] never even mentioned that shit," Method Man added, referring to the late Notorious B.I.G. "I never even said nothing about it."

"Seen him many times after that record and all that because he knew it was just music. At that point in time, nobody knew what the process was that me and Redman did that song for a Dogg Pound album, but it was submitted for 2Pac's album and he put his verse in and the rest is history."

Method went on to call the process "weird" because he "had no knowledge" of 2Pac's verse replacing Rage's.

Elsewhere, Method said that his only time meeting 2Pac was at a Soul Train Awards pre-party at The House of Blues, where 2Pac would later have his final concert.

"He was talking about an incident that had happened in Vegas between RZA and some people that he knew or whatever and shit, and after that he was like, 'If there's anybody we fuck with, we fuck with with Wu-Tang,'" Method recalled. "Dapped him up, walked out the venue and shit, and that was my only encounter with 2Pac. But from that one encounter, [he was a] very cool brother."
