Dreka Gates wants her estranged husband, Kevin Gates, to cough up thousands in spousal and child support after claiming that the rapper has been financially negligent.
According to TMZ, Dreka, who married the Baton Rouge rapper in 2015, alleged in legal documents that in 2021 Gates began to "dismantle the financial foundation of their family." The wellness entrepreneur claims Gates stopped paying for property taxes and tuition for their children's private school education. The spouses share two children, Islah, 12, and Khaza, 11, whom Gates named his debut and third albums after.
Adding insult to injury, Dreka alleges that Gates has shown off his lavish lifestyle by purchasing eighteen upscale cars and a $4.7 million home in Calabassas. Dreka's small family farm in Mississippi is now being foreclosed upon after the IRS filed a $7 million notice. She seeks $27,193 per month in child support along with $46,274 in monthly spousal support.
In response, Gates has denied that the two were ever legally married and used a "factually baseless position." Dreka, who also requested to be their children's primary guardian, filed for divorce in July, just one month after media personality Brittany Renner confirmed that she and Gates had married. After 52 days of a 'spiritual' marriage under Islamic law, the two parted ways.
While Gates has been tight-lipped about his split from Renner, the Basketball Wives star said she left "no stone unturned" and had "no regret."
"A lot of people, their issue is, even just in dating, in marriage, it's people just don't give it their all," she told podcaster Bootleg Kev at the 2025 BET Awards. "They don't just go for it. But I feel like when you do, you're at peace with whatever happens because I gave 100 percent."
