Kanye West made sure the final night of his two Los Angeles shows was one to remember thanks to a special appearance from Lauryn Hill.
On Friday (April 3), the 24-time Grammy winner brought out Ms. Hill at SoFi Stadium to perform "All Falls Down," a track that interpolates the Fugees rapper’s MTV Unplugged song, "Mystery of Iniquity."
Hill also performed fan favorites such as "Lost Ones" and "Doo Wop (That Thing)" from her seminal solo debut album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. The latter is sampled in Ye's 2021 song, "Believe What I Say," which the pair also performed together.
The concert marked Kanye West’s first show at SoFi Stadium in close to five years and the rapper-producer acknowledged his hiatus from live performances, which came amid his years of making controversial antisemitic comments.
"I want to thank y’all for sticking by me all these years. Through the hard times, through the low times," Ye told his crowd of 80,000. "I love you for that."
Other performers who came out to command the stage on night two included Travis Scott, CeeLo Green and Ye’s oldest child, North West.
In January, the 48-year-old apologized for his years of unsettling remarks about the Jewish comment and denied being a "Nazi."
"I lost touch with reality. Things got worse the longer I ignored the problem," Ye said in an written apology in The Wall Street Journal. "I said and did things I deeply regret. Some of the people I love the most, I treated the worst. You endured fear, confusion, humiliation, and the exhaustion of trying to love someone who was, at times, unrecognizable. Looking back, I became detached from my true self."
Ye’s current tour has eight additional dates, continuing on May 23 in New Dehli.
