Gillie da Kid Responds to 'Ignorant' Conspiracy Theory About Son's Shooting Death

The rapper and podcaster said people speculating about his son's death were "putting negative energy" on themselves.

Gillie da Kid continues to address what he says is "ignorant" speculation about his late son, Devin Spadey, two years after his death.

In July 2023, Spadey, professionally known under rap moniker YNG Cheese, was killed during a triple shooting in Philadelphia.

No arrests have been made following the incident, but in a January episode of Club Shay Shay, Gillie accused 17-year-old basketball player Noah Scurry of being the shooter. Scurry had been slain earlier that month.

However, some have alleged that Spadey was "sacrificed" by Gillie, which the Million Dollaz Worth of Game co-host again denied earlier this week.

In a clip posted on Gillie's Instagram Live, reposted by Live Bitez and The Art of Dialogue, the rapper and podcaster said that the "reality" of the situation was that his son "got murdered in a ghetto in Philadelphia."

"But n***as talk about, 'I sacrificed my son,'" he said. "Do you know how ignorant that is, bro? Listen, do you understand how I'm one of the realest n***as ever living, man? You can't offend me by typing some dumb shit at the bottom of the joint."

Gillie added that he's "already accepted" his son's death and again insisted that no one can "offend" him by mocking Spadey.

"All you're doing is putting negative energy on yourself. All you're doing is shortening somebody's life up on your side," he said. "So when your mama or one of your aunts or your brother check out in the next six months, you put that negative energy on them."

Gillie continued, "The world works off of energy, buddy. You on here telling a n***a, a solid n***a like me, that he killed his son for money. Think about that. A n***a think he's hurting me by typing that shit. He's hurting his whole family."

What can't be denied is that Gillie was emotionally overwhelmed while preparing for his son's memorial service. In 2023, Gillie said that he "became a man" while washing Spadey's cadaver under Islamic tradition.

"It was a gift and a curse," he said on The Pivot Podcast. "It was a good thing and a bad thing because it was a very painful thing to see your son laying there, cold and stiff, but I know I sent him off right, y’know what I mean, and in Islam, that’s a big thing—sending them off right."
