Future has been called out by his ex-girlfriend, Brittni Mealy, over a court order involving their 12-year-old son, Prince.
In a petition filed in Fulton County Superior Court at the beginning of March, Mealy alleged that the Mixtape Pluto rapper breached a 2023 court order to obtain a $500,000 life insurance policy for their son, with Mealy being named as a trustee. She claims that Future was supposed to get the policy by August 12, 2023, but that it still hasn’t happened.
“More than eighteen (18) months have passed since the compliance deadline,” Mealy’s petition reads. “Despite several written requests over the course of several months, [Future] has failed and refused to comply.”
Mealy wants Future, real name Nayvadius Cash (his original last name, reportedly changed in 2022, was Wilburn), to be held in contempt and jailed until he complies with the order.
Future has not yet responded to Mealy’s petition.
In 2021, news went viral that Future allegedly referred to Mealy as a “hoe” in a text message to their son, after the child informed the rapper that Mealy wanted him to purchase school clothes. After posting the alleged text on Instagram Stories, Mealy accused Future of being an inconsistent father and claimed that he hadn’t seen their son in several months. Across six women, including R&B and pop vocalist Ciara, Future has at least seven children.
In the same year, the exes trolled each other by dropping competing merch about the incident, with Future releasing t-shirts emblazoned with the message “Pray for her.” Mealy retaliated by releasing merch that read, “Pray for him.”
In 2023, Mealy received an increase in child support, with a judge ordering Future to pay $5,000 per month, a $2,000 increase from his previous monthly payments.
