FKA Twigs tapped into "childlike" wonder in her Eusexua collaboration with North West.

The track, inspired by Maurice Sendak classic book Where the Wild Things Are, was explored in an Instagram Reel posted by FKA on Friday (March 21). The British artist detailed why she reached out to West, 11, the daughter of Ye and Kim Kardashian.

FKA recalled freestyling the lyrics in an early "Childlike Things" session from a song she wrote as a child.

At one point in the song, FKA sings: "Where the wild things are I will be/Lost in a world of childlike things and fantasies."

"It's about dreaming of being a star, it's about dreaming about being around artists. It's about dreaming about being around people that are eccentric and big thinkers," she told her followers.

But she needed an collaborator that had "childlike energy," "tenacity" and a "strong point of view," which is where West came into the picture.

FKA saw West speak in an interview and thought that the middle schooler was "so confident" for her age. "It suddenly occurred to me that I would’ve loved to have a friend like North who could speak up for themselves," FKA continued.

"I was like, 'Okay, it has to be North, she has to put her point of view on the song,'" the vocalist said. "She came and wrote about her faith, which I think is really powerful."

"When I listen to that verse, I just think this is about a young child that has a point of view, that has a very strong and unwavering point of view about what she believes in."

FKA signed off by explaining how close she and North were in age when the "Childlike Things" was first conceptualized. "The crazy thing is that I wrote the song when I was 12, 13; she wrote the song when she was 11," she said. "This is a collaboration that has taken decades to come to fruition. North helped make this song come to life after so many years, and for that I’m so grateful."

West, who's also appeared on songs with her father like "Talking" and "Bomb" plans to soon drop her debut album, Elementary School Dropout. Ye will be executive producing the album.
