Fabolous says that conflict over women is the root of most rap beefs.
The “Make Me Better” artist and the Let’s Rap About It podcast crew were guests on the Thursday (June 11) episode of Way Up With Angela Yee when the group began discussing current tensions in hip-hop.
Around the 31-minute mark of the video below, Fabolous said the “real tea” is that “95 percent of the time,” rap beefs are “about bitches.”
“It’s mostly [about] women more than money,” Fab continued, “‘Cause everybody's getting money in their own way in their own lane.”
Let’s Rap About It co-host Jim Jones interjected that beef happens when a rapper pulls a woman that other rappers couldn’t.
“They might be mad at you for getting a bitch that they know they could never get. But now you got the bitch and then they just mad at you,” Jim said.
“Very tender situations out here. Tenderism,” Fab joked.
After Yee expressed that she’s never known of a rapper who’s beefed with Fabolous over a woman, he replied that he’s “not tender.”
“We're in a time [where] women are choosing, and they have freedom to do what they want. So I'm not beefing with people over a woman,” he continued.
Fabolous added that if there is a “disagreement” with another rapper over a woman, they can have a conversation, but he’s not “trying to rap and go at people.”
Earlier this year, Don’t Be Dumb artist ASAP Rocky explained that his longtime rift with Drake was “over females” after years of speculated issues over Rihanna, with whom Rocky shares three children.
Drake and the Bajan vocalist dated on and off from 2009 to 2016.
“I feel like he wasn't happy and he expressed that,” Rocky said about the Iceman rapper on an episode of The Ebro Show. "When everybody getting older, and it's just like you supposed to be moving on, for you to still be picking at a female and all that, that's soft to me."
