Drake appears to accuse his former friend LeBron James of “switching teams up” on the new Iceman track “Make Them Remember.”
“Make Them Remember” arrives nearly two years after LeBron was an attendee at Kendrick Lamar’s “The Pop Out: Ken & Friends” concert in Los Angeles. At the Juneteenth show, K Dot brought out some of his most famous friends, with opening performances from DJ Hed and DJ Mustard, with special appearances by Tyler, the Creator, YG, Steve Lacy, and more.
Throughout Kendrick’s set, the 27-time Grammy winner performed Drake diss track “Not Like Us” six times, and LeBron danced along. Drizzy fans suspected that the moment would cause a falling out between the two.
On “Make Them Remember,” the 6 God finally appears to confirm that the beef is real between him and LeBron and raps: “Convenient amnesia from all you ballerinas / It doesn’t alter what you said or how it made us see you / I shouldn't even be shocked to see you in that arena / because you always made your career off of switching teams up.”
Elsewhere, Drake calls for people to “stop asking what’s going on between 23” and him, referring to LeBron’s jersey number. “I’m a real n***a and he’s not, it’s in my DNA / I could’ve fell back like the married rapper, but we engaged,” he continues.
Below, Complex sorts out the recent tension between Drake and LeBron.
How did Drake and LeBron’s beef start?
After LeBron appeared at “The Pop Out,” fans noticed that Drizzy unfollowed the Los Angeles Lakers small forward on Instagram.
Has Drake dissed LeBron on other songs?
It was alleged that Drake’s 2025 freestyle “Fighting Irish was a nod towards LeBron being a player on his high school team called the Fighting Irish at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School. On the song, the rapper seems to reference an ended friendship with someone he traded watches with and looked at as a brother, which some listeners likened to LeBron.
Drake would later alter his “Nonstop” lyric during a concert in Perth last year by rapping, “How I go from 6 to 23 but not LeBron, man.”
What has LeBron said in response?
During a sit-down interview on Complex’s 360 With Speedy last September, LeBron replied to a question about Drake switching his “Nonstop” lyric during the aforementioned concert. Rather than acknowledge any possible beef, the NBA legend said that he’ll “always wish him the best” and that “it’s always love” from him.
