Ciara has admitted she felt slighted that her 2013 single "Body Party" didn't receive a Grammy nomination.

The R&B singer, who released her eighth album, CiCi, in August, discussed her feelings about the song being snubbed while on a recent episode of The Zeze Millz Show.

Around the five-minute mark in the video below, Ciara explained that not being nominated was a time that she felt overlooked. The artist has one Grammy Award for Best Short Form Music Video, which she won in 2006 for "Lose Control" with Missy Elliott and the late Fatman Scoop.

"I literally had a song that was R&B that went Number One on the charts, right? And this song was prominent in urban pop culture. I'm talking about 'Body Party,' okay? It was a really big record," Ciara told Millz.

"That was — that could be a great example where you're like, 'Okay, I literally checked off every box.' That's dream goals, right? And it's a blessing when you get to check off all the boxes on a record release," Ciara continued.

"In that moment, say you don't get a Grammy nomination — not even
a nomination — you're like, 'Wait, what?' Like, help me understand what more do I have to do?"

"Body Party" was reportedly ineligible for a Grammy nomination as it included a sample, Ghost Town DJs' "My Boo," but the Recording Academy would eventually lift the sample restriction.

Ciara added that the shock about not being recognized by the Recording Academy is "one of those natural moments" that some artists can attest to, although she hasn't lost her "strong love" for music.

"I never want to feel like the validation of my success is within any tool, anything physical or material," she added. "It's like you have to have like your own success meter in your mind."

Ciara last received a Grammy nomination for her 2009 collaboration with Justin Timberlake, titled "Love Sex Magic," although the song would lose to Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat's "Lucky."
