Our deepest condolences go out to the loved ones of hip-hop hypeman and media personality, Fatman Scoop, who has died after a sudden medical emergency this week. Scoop's untimely death was confirmed by his tour manager, per CT Insider.
The hypeman, born Isaac Freeman III, was performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, Connecticut, on Friday (August 30), when he fainted onstage. The 53-year-old was checking in with the show's crowd before he collapsed.
"If you came to party, make some noise," Scoop said at his final concert before passing out, per recorded footage. While some onstage checked in on him and administered CPR, two performers attempted to keep the crowd distracted with another song.
According to TMZ, medical assistance was called to the venue at 8:33 p.m., and it was later confirmed by Mayor Lauren Garrett that Scoop had suffered from a medical emergency.
"Tonight, while performing at Hamden Town Center Park, Isaac Freeman, aka Fatman Scoop, had a medical emergency on stage," Mayor Garrett on Facebook. "He is being transported by ambulance to the hospital. We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers."
On Saturday morning (August 31), more heartfelt messages began to pour in, as news was confirmed of Scoop's passing. No additional details into Scoop's death have been released.
"Unbelievable. #SleepWell Scoop," wrote DJ Tony Neal. "I was hoping you would pull through. It's been a rough month."
He continued, "Your voice entertained millions, and your legacy will continue. Family, I'm gonna miss you, @fatmanscoop."
Scoop's first major appearance as a solo artist was on Timbaland and Magoo's 2001 track "Drop," which would later appear in 2004 dance film You Got Served.
Scoop's mainstream run would continue with tracks "Be Faithful," Mariah Carey's "It's Like That" and Missy Elliott and Ciara collaboration "Lose Control."
