Cam’ron lawsuit against J. Cole over the song “Ready ‘24” has ended in a settlement.
According to court documents reviewed by Complex on Tuesday (May 26), the rappers reached an agreement over the track and that the court ordered a dismissal of the case. A pre-trial hearing, originally scheduled for Thursday (May 28), has been vacated.
Although details of the settlement were not shared, the It Is What It Is co-host sought $500,000 in royalties and damages from Cole in the suit filed last October.
Both parties have 30 days to finalize the settlement, and if the process isn’t fulfilled, the case can be reopened.
Cam’ron alleged Cole didn’t hold up his end of the deal for “Ready ‘24” after failing to follow through on another collaboration with Cam or guesting on It Is What It Is or Cam’s REVOLT podcast, Talk With Flee.
The two-time Grammy winner eventually appeared on Talk With Flee in March to confront Cam, who claimed that he wanted to get Cole’s “attention” by pursuing legal action.
Cole, who denied the allegations of reneging on the commitment, admitted that while it took awhile to satisfy his end of the deal, he felt “disappointed” by the suit.
“Because I got so much respect for you, and I look at you like, I know you are a stand-up person,” Cole told Cam. “When the lawsuit come out, I'm like, ‘Come on, Cam.’ And only because in my mind I'm like, ‘Bro, you really could have hit me.’”
