In a preview of his upcoming interview with J. Cole on the Talk with Flee podcast, Cam’ron explained why he decided to file a lawsuit against the rapper.

“When you first seen the lawsuit, what was your emotion?” Cam asked Cole, as seen in the clip below.

“I was hurt, almost disappointed,” said Cole. “Because I got so much respect for you, and I look at you like, I know you are a stand-up person. When the lawsuit come out, I'm like, ‘Come on, Cam.’ And only because in my mind I'm like, ‘Bro, you really could have hit me.’”

Cam filed a lawsuit against Cole last year over their song “Ready ‘24,” which the Dipset rapper alleged was recorded in 2022 and was made in agreement that Cole would return the favor with a verse or a guest on one of his two podcasts, Talk with Flee or It Is What It Is with Mase. Cam alleged that Cole offered to collaborate on already-recorded tracks, but he shot down the offer because he wanted to do an original collaboration.

Cole admitted that it was “taking a long time” for him to get back to Cam, but he still would have preferred them to talk it out or even have an argument.

“I would prefer that than the other way, because I was just like, ‘Damn, Cam,’” Cole said. “It never got to that point where you couldn't holler at me or whatever, right, so my first thing was disappointment, and my first thought was like, ‘Fuck it. This n***a ain't even know I was still gonna come to his show.’”

Cole added that he felt his ego taking over his initial reaction, but when he put himself in Cam’s shoes he realized he wasn’t in the right. “Let me put myself in his shoes like, ‘Yo the n***a feel like he was getting a runaround,’” he said. “Cam is probably like, ‘I've seen this movie before. You don't fuck with me, you don't want to do the favor, you trying to drag me out until I don't want to do it no more. Alright, n***a, bet.’”

After his initial feelings on the situation subsided, he said to himself that he would still make an appearance on one of Cam’s podcasts. “Of course, it was never gonna go nowhere,” Cam explained, clarifying that he never wanted the lawsuit to go to trial. ‘But for me, it was more like, ‘I need to get this n***a attention.’”
