Britney Spears dismissed her short-lived marriage to model and former personal trainer Sam Asghari as a "fake distraction" in an Instagram post.
According to TMZ, the "Circus" singer insisted on Sunday (August 24) that her marriage to Asghari was a sham over a year after their divorce. The exes married in 2022 after roughly five years of dating. "It's weird me and Sam were married but it almost felt like a fake distraction to help me deal with it..." Spears reportedly wrote.
The "distraction" was apparently from the pop singer having a strained relationship with her sons Sean Preston Federline, 19, and Jayden James Federline, 18, at the time. Spears shares her children with her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, who she was married to from 2004 to 2007. Spears' first marriage was to her childhood friend, Jason Alexander, in 2004, although they had an annulment less than three days later.
Along with bashing her former marriage to Asghari, also on Sunday, Spears called herself a "struggling artist" in a separate post and said she will "apologize to anyone by showing my ass."
"Sometimes u have to embarrass yourself to remember who u are, I can’t believe I did it either !!!"
Asghari was privy to Spears' estrangement from her sons during the course of their relationship and recently took a dig at Federline for announcing his memoir, You Thought You Knew.
"Well, he was a professional father so [it will] be the first book that'll tell you how to be a professional father," Asghari sarcastically told a TMZ reporter earlier this month.
