Boosie BadAzz shared his disgust about professional basketball players wearing nail polish in a recent tweet.

On Sunday (May 24), the rapper posted on X that he wants the NBA to “ban fingernail polish,” possibly referencing Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jared McCain. The 22-year-old athlete famously wears nail polish and has a partnership with beauty brand Sally Hansen.

In 2023, Complex spoke with the OKC Thunder player, who recalled first painting his nails during quarantine.

“I never saw anything wrong with it,” McCain said. “I understand girls do it. I understand men have started to do it a little more recently, but it was just something I saw and I like to get manicures and pedicures. I take care of my body.”

On being trolled by men, McCain added, “The hate is funny because it's usually grown men most of the time and it's like you're a grown man just hating on a kid. It doesn't affect me at all. I kind of just laugh at it.”

Boosie has a history of homophobia and in 2024, equated a man wearing nail polish with wearing a thong.

Earlier that year, the Baton Rouge native revealed that he walked out during a screening of The Color Purple remake after watching a kissing scene between female characters Celie (Fantasia Barrino) and Shug Avery (Taraji P. Henson). Although a relationship develops between the fictional characters in the 1982 Alice Walker novel of the same name, Boosie tweeted that screenwriters were “pushing the narrative hard” and that he would not let his daughters watch the movie.
