The mother of late pop artist Aaron Carter wants her son to receive a posthumous star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
On Tuesday (April 14), Jane Carter Schneck, also the mother of Backstreet Boys member Nick Carter, launched a GoFundMe with the goal of getting Aaron Carter a Walk of Fame acknowledgement.
Carter, who was a child pop star in the late 1990s and early 2000s, died in November 2022 after an accidental drowning in a bathtub due to the effects of difluoroethane (used in aerosol sprays) and alprazolam (aka Xanax). The musician was 34 years old.
On the official page for the fundraiser, Schneck detailed Carter’s contributions to pop music and television and explained her reasons for an $85,000 goal.
“The funds will cover the creation, installation, and long-term maintenance of the star,” the description reads. “We are coming together as fans, friends, and supporters to honor Aaron Carter’s legacy. Every donation, no matter the size, brings us one step closer.”
According to TMZ, Schneck hopes to reach the goal in order to submit an application and receive approval for the star by May 15.
Schneck, who was formerly Carter’s manager, said her son “would've loved” his name being on the Walk of Fame and recalled often visiting the site when visiting Los Angeles. The mother of five shared that she told Carter his name was “going to be there someday,” and the “Aaron’s Party” artist agreed.
The singer’s former girlfriend, actress and vocalist Hilary Duff, recently claimed to have received a message from him via a psychic.
On an episode of Las Culturistas with Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang Duff recalled the conversation took place over the phone and that she initially did not reveal her identity to the psychic.
