MTV Drops First Promo for 2017 VMAs

On Thursday, MTV released their first promo for the 2017 Video Music Awards.

On Thursday, MTV busted out their first promo for the upcoming 2017 Video Music Awards. The 45-second spot, which was created in tandem with director Florida Sigismondi, alluded to a number of very famous VMA moments, including Madonna performing "Like a Virgin" in a wedding dress back in 1984, the time Britney Spears busted out that snake during a 2001 performance of "I'm a Slave 4 U," and the infamous 1992 Nirvana bass throw. The footage also paid homage to the MTV Moonman (feel free to take a guess at how they did that). The spot also includes a remake of the first song to ever have a video played on the network, the aptly-titled 1979 tune "Video Killed the Radio Star" by the Buggles. The clip was broadcast on the channel at 12:01am on August 1, 1981.

You can catch the 2017 VMAs when they're broadcast from The Forum in Inglewood, California on Sunday night, August 27. Set your DVRs or catch them live. After all, it's not like you don't have plenty of notice.
