Usher is clearing up any rumors surrounding recent reports that he and Justin Bieber got into an altercation after the Oscars, at least according to Da Brat.
During a new episode of the Rickey Smiley Morning Show, Da Brat said that she and Usher had spoken about the alleged incident. Last week, reports claimed that the altercation between Usher and Bieber was physical, while insiders close to Bieber said there was “no physical contact,” though the conversation was “intense.”
“I spoke to Usher, and he said, ‘This is an exaggeration of the conversation,’” Da Brat said. “He's been nothing but supportive of plenty of issues that Justin Bieber has had throughout the years.”
“Justin is on his own journey, dealing with his own reality that he's created. Usher wishes him nothing but the best, and they have no hostility towards each other,” she added.
Da Brat explained that Bieber and Usher “definitely love each other” and that their conversation was taken “out of context.” She did confirm that they “had a conversation.”
She continued, “Nobody heard the conversation but the two of them, and people are just taking it and twisting it and turning it around. But I'm letting you know that everything is okay between them, and there's no hostility.”
Days after the Oscars, reports surfaced that Usher and Bieber got into a “heated exchange” at Beyoncé and Jay-Z’s Oscars after-party. According to TMZ, Bieber has been trying to cut off everyone from his past, including Usher, with a source telling the outlet that the younger singer has “always been rude to Usher.”
Usher served as Justin’s mentor during the early days of his career. But over the years, the two have rarely been spotted together. According to TMZ, the last time the singers were in the same place was in 2022 at Coeur d'Alene Lake in Idaho.
As of this writing, Bieber hasn’t publicly responded to the rumors of his and Usher’s alleged altercation.
