Lil Wayne's Kids Say School Was 'Difficult' With Rapper as Their Father

“I didn't care about all the attention. I wanted to actually garner real relationships," Kameron Carter told his sister Reginae in a new interview.

Lil Wayne's children have gone on record to discuss how hard it was for them growing up in the shadow of their superstar father.

In the latest episode of her Heir Time podcast, Reginae Carter got very candid with her brothers Dwayne, Kameron and Neal. One thing she was curious about was whether having Weezy as a dad made school and making friends difficult for her siblings.

"I would say growing up, my first impression of school was difficult because I would walk around and hear like, 'Oh, that's that's Wayne's son.' I was little, so I didn't really get it, and I didn't like it," Kameron said (around the 3:55 minute mark in the clip above).

"You didn’t like it? I loved it. I was like, 'Yes, I am Lil Wayne’s daughter. Yes, everybody get the cameras out,'" Reginae responded, interrupting her brother.

"At a young age, I didn't like it because I wanted to know who would be my real friend," Kameron added. "I didn't care about all the attention. I wanted to actually garner real relationships. That was hard, and I had to learn how to do it. But once I got acclimated and once I got used to it, I found the right people, and it was fine. But it was for sure difficult at the beginning."

"For you to be so young and have that mindset, that's great," Reginae replied. Dwayne then answered, explaining that he went to private school when he was younger, which he described as "terrible." He was surprised that people with money were so nosy about his life.

"They would all be pressed about me the whole time. And they kept trying to ask me crazy questions. You don't know how many crazy questions people done asked me. And the funniest part is the people who started to care less was when I went to public school."

All four of Wayne’s kids have different mothers. The rapper shares Reginae with Toya Johnson, Dwayne with Sarah Vivian, Kameron with Lauren London, and Neal with Nivea.
