KRS-One knighted Ab-Soul as KRS-Two.
A recent video shows the two rappers standing with Talib Kweli, where Soul refers to KRS as “the teacher.” He adds, “Please tell the people that I have your permission and your grace to be KRS-Two.”
“You have the blessing. It's a burden, a blessing,” KRS-One says. “The burden is that KRS stands for, ‘Knowledge reigns supreme.’ It is knowledge that leads our lives. It's awareness that makes us who we are. You have the blessing because you could not be here with me if you wasn't KRS-Two. My aura rejects those who are not real. You can't be around me and not be real.”
“So by you being able to show up here right now, you at right place, right time,” KRS adds. “I'm reading the universe. Why would the universe bring you here to me at this right place, right time? You could have been stopped a hundred ways just coming here. You got here. You here. I recognize. Knowledge reigns supreme. You're blessed. Carry the name with respect and honor.”
The pair then dap up and hug as Talib says, “That’s beautiful.”
As KRS-One mentioned, his stage name is an acronym that stands for “Knowledge reigns supreme over nearly everyone.”
The video was likely recorded on March 19, when Talib played at the Blue Note Los Angeles, which featured a special guest appearance by KRS.
