New York City is on a high right now.
The New York Knicks are up two games on the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals, with the series headed to MSG for Game 3. It’s the first time the Knicks have played in the NBA Finals since 1999, and the city is rocking.
Fat Joe, a lifelong Knicks fan, put the vibes in perspective for those not in the Big Apple.
“I’ve seen Hasidic Jews breakdancing with Black kids outside the stadium. This is the greatest unification you’ve ever seen of this New York City in your life since 9/11,” he said, per ABC News. “If you want to know what we felt like in 9/11 after the tragedy, it’s what you’re seeing around New York City, is everybody together. This is insane.”
Joe went on to describe the various watch parties happening all over the city. “I’ve got a friend, he puts a screen in his backyard. He said the whole neighborhood, people he’s never talked to in his life are walking through his house, opening the refrigerator,” he added. “This is like, unbelievable.”
Fat Joe’s commentary on the finals continued during a special episode of Joe and Jada.
“The city is linking up and turning it into beautiful chaos, man,” Jadakiss said at the 4:06 minute mark of the video below, prompting Joe to add, “They making Mamdani look like the king of Belair, huh? They saying crime is down. Nobody's arguing. The city's just all together, unified like it's never been.”
On Friday, the Knicks defeated the Spurs 105-104 to take a commanding series lead. Now they’re going to MSG, where Donald Trump will also be in attendance. The president’s presence will take the circus to a whole new level.
Former Knick Amar’e Stoudemire seems to think Trump will “get a standing ovation.” One thing’s for sure, we’ll all be watching.
