Tyler, The Creator wants fans to know that a new era isn’t on the horizon just yet.
Tyler—who released his last two albums Chromakopia and Don’t Tap the Glass in 2024 and 2025, respectively—recently changed his Instagram bio to read, “Satchmo, Sag Harbor.” The subtle change sparked speculation among his most ardent fans, with some believing that he could be working on a new record inspired by the work of jazz legend Louis Armstrong, whose nickname was Satchmo, and the Sag Harbor village of New York, which garnered a reputation as a sanctuary during the era of Jim Crow.
The Instagram account for Medicine Box posted about the speculation, which led to Tyler clarifying that fans shouldn’t expect a new era just yet.
“Not at all lol and do not get stuck on this idea please,” wrote Tyler, as seen in the post below.
While Tyler delivered his quickest follow-up to an album last year when he released Don’t Tap the Glass, which arrived less than a year after Chromakopia, he typically takes between two and three years between major releases. The three-time Grammy Award-winning artist is also fresh off co-starring in Josh Safdie’s A24 hit Marty Supreme, his debut feature-film acting role.
Later this year, he’s set to revive his beloved Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival, with advance tickets for the festival having recently been launched. The latest iteration of Camp Flog Gnaw will go down on Nov. 14 and 15 in Los Angeles, although the lineup won’t be revealed until later this year. Over the years, the festival has hosted multiple A-list artists, including Playboi Carti, SZA, Solange, Doechii, Kaytranada, Lil Yachty, Billie Eilish, Erykah Badu, André 3000, Ms. Lauryn Hill, and Tyler himself.
Last year, performers included ASAP Rocky, Childish Gambino, GloRilla, and Kali Uchi, among others.
