Update 4/2/26 2:33 p.m. ET: Turnstile issued a statement following the arrest of former guitarist Brady Ebert on charges of assault and attempted murder.

The statement reads:

“Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.

In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection. Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.

This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.

We have no language left for Brady.

Please respect our privacy in this time.”

Founding Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert has reportedly been arrested on second-degree attempted murder and first-degree assault charges.

Per Montgomery County arrest records, the former member of the Grammy Award-winning band was arrested on Tuesday (March 31) after a warrant was issued on Monday. The guitarist is currently in custody on attempted murder and assault charges.

As reported by the Baltimore Banner, Ebert has been accused of driving his car into 79-year-old William Yates, the father of Turnstile’s lead vocalist, Brendan Yates. Montgomery County Police arrived at the home of William Yates on Sunday (March 29) and found him with “trauma to his lower extremities.” Police said family members told them that Ebert yelled obscenities while honking his horn and later intentionally hit the lead singer’s father with his car in the driveway.

When William Yates was taken to a nearby hospital, he told authorities that Ebert had harassed the family multiple times after he was kicked out of the band.

Ebert served as the lead guitarist and a backup vocalist for Turnstile from the group’s founding in 2010 to 2022. His last appearance on a record by the melodic hardcore band was their breakthrough third studio album, Glow On. He did not contribute to their Grammy Award-winning album Never Enough, which peaked at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 albums chart last year. He was replaced by Meg Mills in 2023.

His departure from the band was formally announced in August 2022. According to Lambgoat, the group’s drummer, Daniel Fang, filed a peace order against Ebert amid his departure. The order was ultimately revoked due to no statutory basis for relief, indicating that the District Court of Maryland found there wasn’t enough evidence to support accusations of stalking, abuse, harassment, and destruction of property.

He founded a new band in Baltimore called S.E.T., releasing his debut EP with the group last month. However, before the release of the EP, the other members of S.E.T. kicked him out of the band after he made comments about Turnstile on social media.
