Without any indication as to why, Kendrick Lamar’s Grammy Award-winning 2024 album GNX disappeared from Apple Music, then returned.
On Monday (May 11), fans noticed that K Dot’s most recent full-length project had vanished from the popular streaming platform. Curiously, it was still available to stream on platforms like Spotify, but it’s also currently unavailable on Tidal. Around the same time, fans noticed that the music videos for “Luther” and “Not Like Us,” the latter of which did not appear on GNX, were also reuploaded to YouTube, effectively resetting their respective view counts.
The music video for GNX highlight “Squabble Up” is still available and retains its original view count, as do the official audio uploads of all the individual tracks from the album. His Drake diss “Euphoria” also briefly disappeared from services, but has since been restored.
Complex has reached out to representatives for Kendrick Lamar and Apple Music for comment.
Kendrick Lamar wrapped the Grand National Tour with frequent collaborator SZA last year. Since then, he’s mostly kept quiet about whatever might be next. He did, however, make an appearance on his cousin Baby Keem’s most recent album, Casino.
When GNX arrived as a surprise drop in 2024, it was met with positive reviews and debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 album chart with 319,000 album-equivalent units in its first week of availability. All 12 songs on the record also debuted on the Billboard Hot 100, occupying the entire top five. It later went on to win Best Rap Album at the Grammy Awards, and “Luther” picked up Record of the Year.
