Kanye on 'Yandhi' Delay: 'We're Going to Africa in 2 Weeks to Record'

After a whirlwind of a weekend, Kanye West promised he would return to TMZ. Another visit is perhaps inadvisable considering what happened last time he went to the TMZ offices, but he stuck to his word. You can check out the full interview above.

The main purpose of his visit, it would seem, was to clarify what he meant when he said he wanted to "abolish" the 13th Amendment.

But he also broke down why he didn't release Yandhi on Sept. 29 like he promised. When asked by TMZ why the album didn't come out, he responded, "I didn't finish it. A person from my management staff, our management staff, had suggested because the album is so good, it's my...I started incorporating sounds that you never heard before and pushing it, and having like, concepts that people don't, you know, talk about."

As for what fans can expect from the album when it drops on Black Friday (as Kim Kardashian revealed), he explained, "We have concepts talking about body shaming, and women being looked down upon for how many people that they slept with. It's just a full Ye album and those five albums I dropped earlier were like...superhero rehabilitation. And now the alien Ye is fully back in mode, off the medication, working out, breathing as much fresh air as possible. Thinking, doing, being himself."

During this moment he pointed to his MAGA hat, and clarified that when he says he's being himself, he isn't being Donald Trump. "I'm punk, and I can wear whatever I want, cause I'm a god." He went on a bit of a tangent from there, before revealing, "So this is the type of energy that we're putting into the album, so we're going to Africa in two weeks to record." Kanye continued, "I felt this energy when I was in Chicago, I felt the roots. But we have to go to what is known as Africa. I need to go, I need to find out what it’s really called. Just grab the soil and be and cook food, five meals a day so the metabolism stays up, have my kids in the studio, have the mic out in the open so you can hear nature while we’re recording.”

He definitely seems excited to be making music at the moment, despite all the MAGA nonsense surrounding the lead-up to Yandhi. He promised that when it does arrive, it'll be a "full Ye" record.

"Okay so, I'm gonna read to you, something that my friend GLC from Chicago wrote for me," Kanye started when asked to clarify his 13th Amendment statement. "He puts a lot of energy into understanding historical facts." He then interrupted himself by explaining he meant to say "amend" instead of "abolish." "What I wanna say is, 'abolish' was the wrong language, I misspoke by saying 'abolish.' 'Amend' is the right language."
