J Balvin has confirmed that he won’t be showing up as a special guest during Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl halftime show next month.
The collaborators, who teamed up for the joint album OASIS in 2019, recently squashed their issues during a reunion in Mexico City, but cautioned fans not to expect to see them together at the Super Bowl. In an interview with TMZ, Balvin said that it “took time” for them to rekindle their friendship, but now that they’re “grown men,” he thinks it’s “beautiful” that they’re on good terms again.
Asked if he’ll appear at the Super Bowl, he quickly shot the idea down. “Oh no, that’s… I just wish my boy to kill it, and destroy it,” he said. “I want to take over the whole Super Bowl and show the world what Latinos are made of. But I’ll be there, definitely, to support him.”
As for some of the backlash Bad Bunny has faced after being announced as the Super Bowl halftime show performer, he said that he and other Latino artists are used to it by now. “I think it’s normal, but we’re gonna prove them wrong [and] prove them we have so much talent,” he added. “We as a culture are taking over the world… Bad Bunny is one of the biggest superstars.”
Bad Bunny and Balvin had a minor falling out because of the latter’s beef with Residente, which was recently squashed after years of public tension. Much to the joy of fans worldwide, they reunited onstage for the first time in almost four years during a show in Mexico City last month, during which they performed their collaborative hits “La Canción,” “Que Pretendes,” and “Si Tu Novio Te Deja Sola.”
