During a recent livestream, Doja Cat jokingly compared her cat to Nicki Minaj after catching them chewing on wires.
“No, don’t chew on the wires!” she said during the stream, lifting her cat as it attempted to gnaw on the cables attached to her streaming setup. “Are you Nicki Minaj? Are you chewing on the wires? Don’t chew on the wires! Let go… Let go, Nicki, let go, Nicki.” Eventually, she was able to wrestle the wires out of her cat’s mouth, as seen in the clip below.
There’s no evidence to indicate that the comment was an attempt from Doja to throw shade at her peer, who recently pivoted to embracing the politics of the MAGA movement and has publicly aligned herself with Donald Trump. Instead, it could possibly be a reference to an obscure tweet from 2025 in which someone joked about who was responsible for Beyoncé’s car nearly malfunctioning mid-concert.
“Sources say it was nicki chewing the wires backstage,” the tweet read, as seen in a post from a Beyoncé fan account highlighting the possible reference.
The last time Nicki Minaj and Doja Cat crossed paths was in 2020 with the remix of Doja’s hit record, “Say So.” The song appeared on Doja’s album Hot Pink, but Nicki almost collaborated with the rapper again in 2022 for her 2022 track “Get Into It (Yuh).” In a session on Twitter Spaces that same year, Nicki told her fans that she was asked to get on the track, but she ultimately felt she didn’t have anything unique to bring to it.
